Pack Rats Is Doing Great!

We had a super busy week last week. On Monday we started off by tearing down a shed well enough that my brother-in-law will be able to reconstruct it in his own yard. We almost lost the first wall against the house but saved it and avoided damaging anything. The second wall we lost but by the trailer. I let it fall on my body so besides the battle scare on my shoulder we avoided any damage there as well.

Tuesday I had a busy day working on my business. I attended the Washington County Board of Realtors meeting where I get to interact with realtors and affiliates like myself. My favorite part is that I get breakfast there so that's a plus.

Later Tuesday afternoon I attended BNI or Business Networking International where, along with 53 other business professionals, we help each other grow our businesses. It's almost like an AA meeting for business people. It's a great support to be around 53 other people who are growing businesses. There is a saying that goes, "You are the average of the 5 people you hang out with most." Well at BNI I get to hang out with awesome people and help them reach their goals.

On Wednesday Pack Rats had three jobs actually. I met Eric, owner of Southwest Exterminators and another Marine, out in Hurricane where he hired me to dig a narrow trench around this home so he could destroy termites.

They do a great job and are very personable. If you need a pest control guy I highly recommend Eric and his team.

After helping Eric I went to Mesquite to load a Uhaul truck for a Bill who called me an "Ox" and asked me if I had been a professional athlete. I think it's funny that I get a lot of clients, after watching me work, tell me that I don't have to go to the gym. I often tell them, "I already went to the gym today." I go around 5:30 to 6 in the morning every day so I can work like an "Ox."

After Mesquite we helped another family move from near Sunriver to Dammeron Valley for about 3 hours. All together it was a very long day but very rewarding and everyone was happy.

Thursday I drove out to Kayenta to take some pics and put a bid on a job. The place is overgrown with trees, shrubs, weeds, and household junk. It looks like a fun job so I hope the owner hires us to clean it up.

Later on Thursday I went to a networking meeting at Brookdale assisted living center where I met some nice people and introduced myself and my business to the group.

Friday morning I drove out to the east side of Sand Hollow to unload a trailer for an old Marine who moved down from Salt Lake area. He was pretty happy to have me there and I may be working for him again cleaning up and landscaping his front and back yards.

We even set up Mikes king size bed for him. What a beautiful view.

After Mike's home we drove to the Sunriver area and did some staging for Jodee who is the nicest woman you will ever meet. She has more energy than most people and it's fun to be around her.

I left Jodee's home after we staged it thinking my day was over. I enjoyed some reading in the sun and some family time. Around 3:30 p.m. I received a phone call from a Judy who was getting the keys to her knew home at around 5 p.m. and she begged me to come help her with a 26' and a 17' Uhaul. I agreed and was there by 4:40. It took us exactly 3 hours to unload and these trucks were packed completely to capacity with a combination of large items, boxes, and loose belongings. They were super impressed that three of us could do that much work in only 3 hours.

Saturday I took one of my guys out to Dammeron Valley to unload an ABF semi trailer for a couple that was moving in from Silicon Valley, CA. They were amazed that there could be places on earth like Washington County after living in the city for decades.

I also managed to give some referrals to some BNI colleagues as this lady took several cards for other services.

These are before and after pics of a property I did several months ago. I just wanted to add them to show that we can clean up back yards and mow them as well. We do not do maintenance, just cleanup. We can make ugly yards look clean and tidy.

"If An Opportunity Doesn't Knock Build A Door"

Not as busy last week as the week before but still had some good jobs and met some great people.

On Monday Walter was moving back to Arizona and needed some help loading his Uhaul in Hurricane, Utah.

On Tuesday I took a guy down to Mesquite, Nevada and un-loaded a Uhaul truck into a storage facility. Him and his wife Connie moved down from Montana to retire and soak up the year round sun in Southern Nevada.

On Wednesday I picked up a piano in Ivans and delivered it to a friends home in Green Valley.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays I go to one of my favorite places on earth. I get paid an average of $35 tax free every visit to read for one hour and save a life. Reading is one of my favorite things to do and finding Biolife Plasma Services has been a huge blessing for me. I try to make good use of my time and getting paid to read seems like a pretty good idea.

On Friday I helped Jodee unload a Uhaul truck. She is moving over from Texas and this was the second job I have done for her.

Saturday I moved an old barber shop from 253 North Bluff Street to a storage facility in Leeds, Utah. Udot is tearing down this old strip mall to widen the road or make a large parking lot. I am not sure which, but regardless they paid me for the client to transport his belongings to Leeds where he lives with his wife.

I made the mistake of trying to take the back roads to Leeds only to get re-routed 3 times because of the Ironman. I made a moronic mistake, but in the end we got er done and made the clients happy.

Busy Week!

Last week was pretty busy. It might have been the busiest week I have had in a long time. Two weeks ago my ecclesiastical leader, or bishop, asked me if I could move his belongings out of a temporary storage warehouse in Hurricane, Utah. He had me help him move his entire 10,000sf furniture warehouse back in December, and as part of that I moved several truck loads of personal belongings to a temporary place to keep it out of the way of his company's furniture stockpile.

He hesitated for 3 months to clear out the temporary place of which he was paying $2,500 a month. Last week he decided he had had enough and asked me to Clear it out. So Monday I started and finished it on Wedesday. It took me a total of 14 hours and cost him $456. He was worried he would have to pay an extra $2,500 for May but I got it done in less than 2-8hour days. After I was finished he regretted spending the extra $7,500 for no reason really and was super happy with me.

Tuesdays I use as a day to work “on my business” and not “in my business.” So Tuesday I attended the Washington County Board of Realtor’s (http://wcbr.org) where I get a lot of my business. I did have a job where I picked up a truck load of furniture from a rental. The people had left some junk behind and I cleaned it up for the owners. Every Tuesday at 3:30 I attend Business Networking International or BNI (https://www.bni.com) but this week I sent a substitute and went to my daughter’s dance recital at her school. The sub I sent was Sean Stanley with Real Water.(www.realwaterutah.com). I use his services. The water is alkaline water which helps your body balance to the proper PH level. I love his water and feel tons more energy by drinking it. Wednesday I finished up my bishop’s warehouse.

On Thursday I did a demolition job for my brother-in-law. I helped him and his grandpa tear out some pillars in his home. Thursday Afternoon I went to Zion’s massage and got another ashiatsu massage which was amazing. Afterwards I checked my phone and found a message with a last minute request for moving help. I did not have a guy available to help last minute but told the guy I was coming. I drove out near the Family Dollar Distribution Center to a $700,000 house where I helped new residents move in. My wife’s grandpa showed up to help with a few heavy things to show thanks for helping him that morning with the demo job.

Friday I had two moving help jobs. One was unloading Shawna’s Uhaul truck, and the other was delivering, loading, and then delivering back to Uhaul two Uboxes which were to be shipped to Buffalo New York. I saved this guy $700  and he gave me a $200 tip as a reward.

Saturday I drove to Mesquite with my truck and trailer and moved Glenn’s possessions from a storage unit to his new condo. He was very happy and gave me a tip as well.
